Central Jail, Dimapur
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION.
The Central Jail, Dimapur is the only State Central Jail of Nagaland established during the year 1965. The Jail has a total capacity of 600 (Six Hundred) inmates with an area of 37 Bighas. It is the most sensitive and the only high security Jail in Nagaland. Different categories of inmates are lodged in the Jail like the NSA detenus, long term Convicts, UTPs, high profile prisoners, foreigners etc. The Central Jail, Dimapur is presently headed and administered under Senior Superintendent of Jail, Nagaland who is assisted by different level of subordinates.
Central Jail, Dimapur has a capacity to accommodate 400 (Four Hundred) Prisoners.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.
To ensure proper security and safe custody of Prisoners and to impart reformative and rehabilitative methods to bring the prisoners to the main stream of the society. And to ensure the smooth functioning of Jail administration and management.

Safe Judicial Custody, rehabilitations and reformation of Prisoners.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES.
- To secure the safe custody of all categories of prisoners like Convicts, U.T.Ps, NSA detenues.
- To reform and re-habilitate the prisoners bringing them back to the society as a useful citizen.
- Timely production of U.T.Ps from Jail to Court for speedy trial of their cases.
- To enforce proper discipline and good conduct among the staff and the Jail inmates as well.
