Brief History of District jail, Mokokchung
District Jail Mokokchung was established during the during the British period at Old D.C.Hill Mokokchung but owing to the space inconveniences, it was shifted to Yimyu Ward, Khensa Village, a kilometer away from the main town on 22nd May 1990. It comprises of the main office of the Superintendent of Jail, 16 wards, a kitchen, a storeroom, T.V room, a Library and a Church. Currently it holds the position as the 2nd biggest Jail in Nagaland (in terms of area) next to Central Jail, Dimapur.
